will western australian engeneering certificate for 4x4 mods be passed by queensland department of transport. or will i have to do it all again.

WA is as strict as QLD, so I reckon you'd be in with a shot. But as already stated, you would have to start the process over again. QLD will not honour WA's eng. certs AFAIK.

know that depends on who you speak to.
i asked a bunch of people when i was looking at buying my first suzuki. some said yes and some said no. some were just the people behind the desk and some were the inspectors themselves. both side had people who said yes and no.
i missed out on the car so cant confirm whether it is true though. i did alot of research and phonecalls though. the one i was looking at was engineered in NSW.. which shouldnt make a difference

Matty- go straight to the top, relying on opinions from every man and his dog could end up costing you a lot.

Write to the QLD department of transport or whatever they call themselves over there, as well as our own Transport department fellas, and tell them exactly what you are intending to do, and that the vehicle will be built and certified by the appropriate engineers over here- but with the intention of being legal in both states.

It might involve a few compromises- but its cheaper than spending good money on mods that you have to change at a later date.

The worst they can do is give you pointers on how to make it QLD legal and tell you to have it rechecked when you arrive.
If you can hand the inspectors/ police or whoever a nice neat file of paperwork with all the documentation relating to your modifications, and signed off by thier own boss- it is pretty hard for the lower ranks to knock it back when you get to QLD.

QLD DOT will not acknowledge any vehicles approved in other states

Otherwise we would be heaps of NSW registered Engineers setup in Tweed Heads and we would all build our junk up, go down there and get it approved and then re register up here with the paperwork :wink:
