Finally getting around to wiring the check engine light.
How does the ECU (MK1 GTi) treat the engine light?
Ie.
1. A clean set of contacts that switches to ground.

or

2. Does it rely on a certian current flow.

The reason for the question is I'm going to use a 12v LED indicator not a bulb, and was wondering if it will have an effect on its operation.

LED will be fine, its jsut switches the terminal in the ECU to ground
