Hi guys,

As you will see later, this post will also go in the I'm a dickhead thread....

I've just started cleaning up the back end of the motor and fitting a new rear main seal in my 96 LWB vitara - G16B, and i noticed some wiring crushed in-between the block and the bell-housing.

I admit it was me who f*&ked this right up in the driveway in the dark when putting the gearbox back in after installing reduction gears.

Funny part is, even though all of these wires were crushed to earth, everything seems to have been working fine, so far as I can tell...

The main problem here is that I can't seem to find where this wiring goes.

It goes from where it was crushed along the drivers side of the engine block, through a connector and then breaks into the wiring harness to run off who knows where....

I was hoping someone might be able to identify these wires, where they should go etc...

Thanks in advance.

I can't find any wiring that it should go to, or anything for the other end of the crushed section. I can only follow one end of thr wiring back to under the intake manifold.

As far as the gearbox goes, i have one switch in the top of the gearbox which i take to be the reverse switch, which I have identified and disconnected as per normal when removing the gearbox/transfer, and one switch in the transfer that didn't have anything connected to it, just a connecter that doesn't connect to anything....

Not as far as I know, I've never seen it operate anyway....

I've just checked another gearbox/transfer I've got here, seems it's the wiring that goes down to the gearbox switches etc, and I've identified a section where the reverse switch wiring has been broken/soldered before.

I know when I had the gearbox transfer our last time I actually removed the reverse switch, so I know that wasn't me. So looking at it on the whole, I'd say someone has had this out before, crushed the wires, and bypassed the standard reverse switch wiring and just cut out the rest of the harness....
