Hi all, my mechanic says that my front left wheel bearing is shot and needs fixing. he also says that if ur doing one you should do the other. The quote he has given me is $500 for a repack of both or $700 to replace both.
Has anyone else had this done and does this price seem excessive? Im not interested in doing this myself as i dont have a press and im not keen on such a messy job. Cheers for your responses. |

$500 to put grease in the bearings thats insane both those quotes are way too much $200 max to buy the bearings and i don't think theres $500 in labour involved i would try someone else. |

That is craziness. Even $500 to replace bearings is a joke, let alone repacking them....which I'm pretty sure you can't because they are a sealed bearing.
Look elsewhere mate. Or ask someone on here for help |

Better idea, how about someone from the sunshine coast who's got a bit of mechanical knowledge help this poor bugger out, i reckon if you throw a few bucks someones way it should attract most peoples interest and it will give you Keithyburger a chance to learn how to do it yourself. its not a difficult task, and you never know where having that knowledge might Save your arse... even if it comes down to you now know that every 20 - 30xxxkm's you'll know how to pull the bearings out yourself and Re grease them! |
