Post subject:  G16A question

G'day Folks,

I have a 1990 Vitara SWB Auto with a G16A in it.
Can anyone tell me what following year G16A's will drop straight in please?
That is, would a 1991,1992 etc. model G16A fit?
Also, does one out of a manual fit straight on to an auto?
I'm looking to buy a spare motor to rebuild for future use and I want to make sure I get the right motor.

Thanks in advance.

Robert

I bought a head from a G16A to replace my damaged G16A head and the gear on the end of the cam to drive the dizzy was in a different spot.
Mine was hard up against the end of the cam, the replacement cam had the gear about an inch from the end.

No idea what years though, but something to watch. We had to find another cam.

If you can get cam and dizzy together though you will be fine :)

It was from a guy on here (cant remember his name) and it was from a Vitara. I did question him whether he had ever done a swift engine swap or anything and he said he didn't. Previous owner may have though...
