Have search to many threads to read so ill just ask. I have a 97 vitara with a 16b and need a new clutch im building for Tuff Truck the car will run standard engine with extractors standard gear box but with a divorced sierra case with 6.4s diffs will be after market 60 series running 5.29s with e lockers front and rear tyres are 40 inch sticky treps on beadlocked rims oh yeh it will be 4 wheel steer. So do I just go with the standard clutch or a heavey duty one have read that the heavey duty are good but can cause clutch cables to break if so how often .The fly wheel will be machined and a new sigot bearing used Any help would be great with part numbers and prices. hey Duncan, sounds like a beast we need pics please. i think the std clutch is generally better and yeah the HD clutches have issue with the cable snapping. i cant give you a life expectancy as i dont run a hd clutch. you running this and ur red sierra? |

sean at suzistore said the only reason people snap clutch cables on the HD clutches is cos they set the pedal wrong (something along those lines). running the g16b and in a competition scenario with large tyres i reckon you're best to go with a HD clutch. |

i tried a RPM hd clutch on a 8vg16 and went through 3 cables in a weekend. everything was set up according to the FSM including cable and pedal freeplay. |

fair enough... i'm on my 3rd HD clutch and still on the factory cable.. my first was an exedy and the 2nd two are jimny clutches. |

If your building it for tuff truck type comps, why not go with an auto? |

You have t/case gears so there is no need for a HD clutch. |

stock clutch will work fine, youll never be slipping it if you have enough gears |

Thanks guys ok how do you convert to hydraulic that would be great has anyone done it if so part numbers and pics would be great i would do it in a flash |
