just after some advice.

looking at getting an aldi winch. I was thinking as the GV is so light I could get away with mounting the winch in the alloy bar. just beef up the mounts.

the bull bar is 8mm alloy.

the othe option is to buy a universal winch cradle and try that way.

after some opinions and pics on how to do it.

cheers.

dont mount it to the alloy bar, you'll need a steel winch cradle. check out Built4Thrasing's GV build thread to see how he did it.

Yep you'll find it here http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... &start=120

He also used a couple lengths of flat steel, about 4mm thick i think, later on, bolted from the bottom of the winch to the front cross member to give some extra strength

 What they said. Build a winch cradle that bolts to the ends of the chassis and also bolts to K frame (front cross member) Once that is secure then mount the alloy bar onto the winch. Nice and strong and looks like its ment to be.

ok I got my Aldi winch today. Theirs still one left if anyones interested (westfields north lakes).

I didn't realise how heavy it would be so a good strong cradle it is.

I think I might need help doing it. anyone want to help or know a shop that would around north Brisbane.
