Thought I would post up and ask everyone how they have managed to secure things in the rear of the tintop while 4wding?

I can't really seam to find anywhere to attach some easy tie down points without drilling. Eventually I'll sort out some tie down points by drilling or whatever but at the moment just want something temporary that will stop the toolbox + esky moving around.

Has anyone got pics of some easy tie down points in their tintop ? Any pics of some creative ways to secure things in the rear of the tintop ?

Go to a wrecker and grab some of the restraint loops used to attach baby seats to.

Bolt these in using the rear seatbelt bolts.
They're a handy place to hook up a ratchet strap to hold down the esky, tie the dog too etc.

If I own a early model 1L tintop with 2 passengers on the plate, would it still have rear seatbelt bolt holes?

yeh i got a 1 liter tin top and its the same as the 1.3 liter has all the bolt holes in for rear seats and seat belts i just got some angle brakets with the holes big enough to put the bolts through and works fine for me just they stick up a little

No there are no rear seats in my car.

hey mate im not to sure if you got my text but this is what i did to mine this is the fuel tank side just after the door seal at the back. it does stand up abit but i dont put anything in the back and was prefect for straping a fridge to had not probem even over really bumpy stuuf even accidently jumped the car and had no problem the fridge stayed put was really happy about my $3 investment from bunings

thats bolt i used came out of my mates 1.3 sierra with rear seats i took some bolts off it befor he sold to a wreckers

Orange that's bloody awesome. I'm copying that, might round the corners with the grinder though

I'll have a poke around bunnings, perhaps there is a hinge that I could use that would lay down flat when not being used...

stockman, that's perfect. any idea what it's called or what it's used for? Looks like somethign used to tie down one of those large outdoor shade cloths?

wreckers and look in the ute trays , they have these cool removable bolt in d tab things. use these and nutserts for that cool factory look

yeh stockman thats what i was looking for at bunnings but they had ones where you had to cut into the body work and i didnt want to do that i just needed something that would do cause i was going to go away for a week the day after i got it so i was a little rushed haha but did the job i might look into on of them mounts that you found that would be much better as my sierra is properly carpeted in the back underlay and all haha and the brakets make the carpet stick up abit

I know the recessed ones you're talking about.

I would of thought bunnings would have them. Maybe specialty fastners or a roof rack supplier.

Yeah looks alright but would prefer to be able to goto a store and pick them up before the weekend. Ebay delivery can take some time...

FYI self serve wreckers are a gold mine for those style of tie down points.
