Hi guys i have a 1.3l in my sierra and it runs a bit funny once it warms up!!

waht happens is when you do a bit of 4wding it will stop idiling and be really up and down in the revs when lower,

once you get over 2500ish it seems to run fine seems to me like something too do with the carby!!!

Any ideas????
Cheers darcy

sounds like choke to me too... theyre a wax thingo that stuffs up - and unfortunately once the factory one goes you have to buy aftermarket, and from my experience the aftermarket ones only last a year before shitting themselves also.

when my choke died it used to backfire heaps on downshifting (engine braking) was a sure sign it was time to replace it again. i did it 3 times before i cooked the motor and swapped to a 1.6 with a weber carby and manual choke (then went efi and did away with chokes all together!)

yeah removed the choke plate last night but its still hunting for idle and wont idle at all when the revs die down,

even doing once first started in the morning theres a couple of water hoses going too the carb one of which seems cold when the engine is runninng soo gunna clean/replace them today and see if that helps atall plus might seee if there is any scummy crap in the carb as it was sitting for a few years before i got it and i let it get below quarter for the first time the other day and thenns when it all began
cheers Darcy

check the fuel filter then, you'll know by what comes out of it if it sucked up something nasty.

can also be a leaky hose that makes it hunt around - i dont remember which one it is, but one of mine perished and had a small hole in it which caused issues.
