Hey guys , Long time reader, first time poster... So I've got a '91 SJ70 Sierra with the usual 2'' lift with 29'' tyres, I also have fitted a snorkel and ripped the back seats out and made up a drawer system to store recovery gear and tools. Just wanted some advice on where to go now, with mods and extras... I was thinking maybe a winch bar and SPOA? Cheers,

any many ppl will tell u on here spoa will most likely be a bad idea it hard to setup right and many other things if i was u i would look at a rear locker auto locker are only about 250 to ur door and will take u a lot futher offroad

I put a weber in my sj70 1990, sounds great engine runs great but did my clutch backing out of the shed so havnt have a test run yet

if i was in your shoes this is what i would do, in this order. 1. Rear Locker 2. RUF and longer shocks (front and rear) 3. Good set of 31's (MT) 4. Transfer gearing and appropriate transfer bracing This setup will make your sierra a capable little rig. You could also put some extractors and a exhaust system on to provide a tiny bit more power. After this there are heaps of things you could do...powersteer, front locker, cromo cv's, 1.6L conversion etc. As said above SPOA is hard to setup right and is illegal on WA roads. Keeping is SPUA will mean it's easy to return to stock if you need to get the car over the pits. You should definitely be able to fit some 31's with a 2inch spring lift and some gaurd hammering/cutting. These days keeping rigs nice and low seems to be the way to go.

Oh, I was told SPOA was a good thing... guess he lied -_- I've currently got $1500 to play with so anything within that range is good. I forgot to add, I've already set up a dual battery system with a Redarc Soleniod Also, what engine mods are the best to run with... I can a barely sit on 100kph on the highway and I want to coax some more power out. What exactly do lockers do...? thanks again! P.S You guys reply fast!

For your money, IMHO you will see the best results from the following combination Reduction gears (which will also assist your highway driving slightly by bringing your highrange ratios back to stock) Rear auto locker, I recommend a spartan for ease of installation and use. A locker will keep both rear wheels turning in low traction situations, whereas an with and open diff all power is sent to the point of least resistance, ie when one one wheel starts spinning all power is sent to that wheel resulting in no drive to the other wheel, and you going nowhere fast If you have any cash left over after that, get some extractors and a new zorst to help the asthmatic little engine breathe better Hope this helps, Nathan

Oh, haha In know what they are now, had them in the old 80 series cruiser... never really knew what the were called :/ What brand should I go for the reduction gears?

get them from lowrange. They are the best especially due to thier shipping. They open everything up and pack it as small as possible and use post rather than a courier. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... -case.html Ratio will depend on both tire size and what your driving. 4.9s are good all rounders up to 31". I ran 6.5s with 31s and it was really good. here you can see them taking a nap under my car:

Transfer gears Cut guards 31 U don't need lockers yet they take all the fun out of driving When u do need them get both at the same time because rear locker only in a Sierra SUCK The ass end try to overtake the front end or tries to do back flips
