do u have to take out diff centre to change pinion seal,,
or just "mark" the nut,pinion,diff and undo to put new seal in.

To do it properly you need to replace the crush tube between the pinion bearings to reset the preload again.

yeah thanks mate ,, was hoping to do the old mark it and check torque seting before i take it out..
geting a locker to go & bearing change in about a month, but being the rear seal im hoping to just drop a seal in for now as its pissing out on my exhaust.
is that doable?

you might get away with it but you might find its leaking cause the bearings are flogged and the pinion is moving around stopping the seal from sealing

Yep, that'll work. Just check the seal surface on the flange to make sure it's not damaged or grooved too much

o.k thanks guys, il give it a go, but u may be right about the floged out bit,,
as iv had it for close to 2 years and done 3 (yes 3) trips brisbane to mackay and back nearly 1000ks each way. this is the first leak its had.
