Alright just wanted to make sure.. I'm running a pretty stock zook coily for adventure touring more than extreme 4x4.. For some reason I don't want to do a lift but will do all the shocks and springs done at stock height with some qual gear.. ironman or something. Anyways for my annoying question what tyres will fit under stock height plus without much gearing drama. I'm thinking on 15x7 rims.. 215 75 15 minimum.. so what's the maximum... don't want to cut or bash any bits. Cheers. Rob. |

I don't know that you would get anything bigger than that under there. I have 235/75R15's with a 40mm lift and at full compression i get scrubbing on the front wheel arch. That's after having the seam hammered flat. |

A 215/80R15 definitely fits and is the largest tyre I would want on a stocker setup for touring. IMO for a 235/75R15 to fit you'd want to look closely at rim offset. Coilys having a wider axle means a deep offset causes the fronts to rub as Anto86 described. IMO 15x7s with small tyres isn't a good idea. Maybe get some 6 or 6.5" rims if you go to a 235. Stock WT rims offer a good offset if staying with 215s - A 215 will 'just' sit under the flare on a WT rim. Narrower rims are better IMO. If you are after a quality lift, the Pedders 2" kit is pretty good IMO. I would never go to stock height again either - with a small front lift the extra tension put on the swaybar creates a really stiff front end which handles well IMO. |

215's are too narrow for 7" rims. I'd be fitting 215's to the standard rims as there's quite a good range in that size. Any bigger and you really want to sort out gearing as it will suffer a bit on road. |

I ran 225's on standard rims and in that size i didnt even notice a difference in drivability. |

x2 I also ran 225/75/15 on a 5.5" stock rim For About a year, lots of 4x4 at 10psi No problems at all!! |

my uncle has 215/75r15 BFG KM2 on his unlifted jimny... brand new they just scrub the back of the front guard, but after about a year of tyre wear they now just miss =P haha his are also fitted to the stock rims. |

i run 215 75 15, with a 2inch body lift but there would be plenty of room without the lift, and from what i hear thats about the largest you can go without starting to look at gearing. |

Hmm thanks for the info guys.. I'll look at the pedders but have read pretty bad reviews on them. Then again they'd prob be fine for my light track work. So I might scoot down there today and get a quote on say 40mm lift... then look at 15x7 with 225 75 15.. Sound doable and chunky enough? Cheers. |

What is the obsession with wide rims? Standard WT rims and a chunky 215 will sit in line with the edge of the flare on a coily. The problem with 7" rims and 215s (or 225s even) is when you air them down there isn't sufficient pressure against the bead to stop mud/stones getting in there and deflating the tyre. There is also more chance of the bead coming of the rim. Then there is more rotating mass of a heavier rim, etc, etc. 6" is all you need LOL! |
