VL Engine Mounts.
With transfer case gears now, and an engine transplant,
I am thinking I should do the engine mounts,
and a few other important items,
while acess is easier.
Is the VL commodore engine mount, that I keep finding in search,
an upgrade for a Vitara, also?
Or just a Sierra thing?
Seems to be cheaper that a Vit pair.
Searches have revealed not all Vits have the same mounts,
so I think I should pull them out before buying new ones.
(or is it an obvious difference seen from outside?)

when i did mine, the only difference is that the vit efi mounts are different to the carby mounts. not sure why tho.

Mines efi being a 93 LWB but externally can't see a difference.
Mounts I found on escam said only for carby engines.
Didn't actually find any listings for efi yet, still searching.
Looks like VL ones are same size and shape. But I better pull them out before spending money.

Found a size comparison on nbs,
Vit mounts are bigger,
by a lot,
dunno if that means better.
From outside mine just look like bigger Sierra ones.
Can't seem to find a comparison between the 2 different types of vitara mount, yet

The carby type listed on ebay appear to be the same as mine.
Will wait till I can rip them out, may even be perfectly OK>
I just a bit retentive at times ;)

Have decided against using VL mounts.
But having a hard time finding suppliers for the EFI type Vitara mounts.
Only found one so far at $88 each :O

Plenty of Carby types .

Guess I'll have to crawl the wreckers if I need any.

That says it suits them all A and B.
Maybe its ok to fit later ones to earlier vits.
Or vice versa.
But that gives me a part number to search for.
If I ever get the motor to auto nut off,
will soon know if I need any.

I had trouble with another brands, they listed mounts for them and they got a set in but they were clearly not for a vitara :?
And one brand only had one in stock australia wide.

If ya get stuck, ya can have these for what i paid. $69 each.

Thanks for the offer,
but I just checked out the Mackay site,
Mine has a different type. A5229.
But that answered my questions, thanks.

Now hopefully not needed.
But should carry a spare anyway

Some places list the same part for carby and efi Vits.
Others show a differece in shape, has a extra steel block on side for efi models.
At this rate the VL could be back on my list.
Theres quite a few Landcruiser and other vehicles with similar looking mounts

If the engine is still in, can you just put a pry bar under each mount and see if they're still in one piece? Doesn't look from the pic like they've got metal "wrap arounds" to stop them ripping off.

Almost ready to rip the engine out,
after the battle with the stuck nut is won.
So will check them soon.
I just trying to make sure I don't have any jobs to do,
under the bonnet, while its all out.
I hate repairs,
spanner spinning should be modifactions only.

The cheapest I have found so far is $100 each. 8O
And around $60 for the smaller carby vit mounts.
Some places have solid gold engine mounts. 8O 8O
I still can't see a huge difference in these from the carb vitaras.
So considering Heavy Duty Sierra mounts from low range.
(possibly from an AZ member)
If they do drop motor down,
I have 25mm dropped front diff, so may be fine.

Yeah found them,
they are showing same mount for carby and efi,
as a few sellers do.
Maybe they do fit.
If so, heavy duty carby vit from lowrange, which are also same for Sierra,
are a cheaper and maybe better option?
ebay has $64 g16a listed,
must be the going price.

They don't list an engine mount for EFI Vits,
and these Carby Vit ones look identical to Sierra mounts.

Mine have an extra block welded on the end,
but other than that I cant see a difference.
And it dont seem to serve any purpose, either.
It could just be a selling gimmick.
I reckon I'll go for the cheaper type,
more common, too,
and available in Heavy duty.

I'll make them fit rather than pay some of the stoopid prices I seen on the so called efi type

Yeah that block on them doesnt do anything.

thanks to an AZ forum member.
I buying some as new unused 2nd hand HD ones :)
