Matt's went in with custom engine mounts, gearbox mounts and a cut and reshape of the trans tunnel |

I'm about to whack the 4speed auto into my zook shep. Using one of joe's output flange plates from the auto, and getting the jackshaft shortened to use the sierra transfer. Custom mount for the rear of the box. Already running a heavy duty DIY cradle and tube mounts for the transfer. I've got a 2" body lift, but still expecting lots of work with the angry hammer. For the cost of that kit you linked, I can't see any benefits for the price. You could shep up all those parts just as easily in no time. |

You could shep up all those parts just as easily in no time. for $100 more then joes plate i get all the bits needed to slap it in and i will have it in 7-10 days. joe wouldn't give me a time frame for his plate. plus i like to get stuff done as quickly as possible that way i avoid the risk of having a 10 year car project. so has anyone had anything to do with this kit? http://www.trailtough.com/index.php?pag ... &Itemid=53 |

do you have to do anything with the speedo to compensate for bigger tyres? ie will the auto kick down a gear to soon because the speedo thinks you are doing 65kph when you are really doing 90kph. |

Guess that depends on your gearing aswell. 1.6 AW4 runs 4.6? diff, 1:1 high and 1:1 4th on 26.5" tyres. Matt is running 4.1 diffs, 1.22 high and 1:1 4th on 28.5's and it works perfectly. EDIT: 4th is OD, so 0.75:1 maybe. And would the kickdown be triggered by speedo or tacho? I would have though engine RPM would dictate when kickdown occurs..... |

i am going to be 6.5 trans and 4.88 diffs according to the gearing calculator it will be 100kph at 4000rpm |

I had the same concern and couldn't find an answer. I justified it to myself that it would work, based on the factory vitara having high/low range. Surely the auto would need to behave for both ratios, so altering final drive ratio in your sierra would present a similar situation. |

That would be fairly similar to stock auto vit anyway. Perhaps someone with an auto 1.6 could comment? |

Its more the load on the box and your throttle position. in economic will 31's my car will drop below 2000 before it kicks back in top. bit more throtor a trailer on and it drops back earlyer |

4000 at 100km seems a little high I think My vit man in 5th is 3200 with 31 @ 110km/h . it sucks 3600/3800 would be nice |
