The rear of my car sit about two - three inches higher than the front end, and it looks a bit strange with all this space under the rear guards and my little 215s. The suspension has been lifted already (by the previous owner I guess), and while the front is good - the back is a bit overkill. I'm sure the clearance would be handy running big ol' muddies, but I can't see myself going this route any time soon. What are my options to level it out a bit? I have 5-pack King springs in the back, and a shackle link approx 3" from hole to hole. Being a noob i'm not sure if you can eliminate the shackle (seems like a 'must have' so the spings can flex a bit), but if I did I reckon it'd sit about right. If there's an easy fix i'll do it, but if it's likely to cost a bunch i'll leave it be. |

Take a few springs out of the leaf packs. You could do it home yourself. |

Can you get a pic of how front and back leaves sit? Like a pic of the actual leaves? Sounds like you may have a 2" lift in the back only. |

I'll take some pics when the rain decides to bugger off. You could be right BlueSuzy - that might explain a few things. Any drawbacks or consequences if I take out a couple of springs in the pack? |

could also be heavy duty leaves in the rear (for carrying a load). when i had my 2" spring in my sierra i had about 1" more in the back than the front, didnt look out of place though. |

Couple fat mates you'll be right. do you pull a trailer at all if not i don't see a point for hd springs. remove leafs just leave 3 leafs |

Removing leaves allows the axle to 'wrap' more. What are these shackles you have? Do you have the same on the front? |

Can't find my bloody camera to get pics. Shackles are the same on both ends of the car though. Here's an old photo from my Rigs thread, can't see everything but it's the best I could find:
Here's how it high sits with 215s, not the most recent pic but the best side-on I could find:

thats exactly how mine sat... but you've got the extra weight of the tin top so it should sit a touch lower. the 2nd leaf up is the one you'll want to take out... the very bottom one isnt really neccessary either. |

I'd start by just pulling out the load leaf (smallest one at the bottom) and see if it settles down a bit |

it would have gotten higher by the thickness of the leaf, cos as you take leaves out you shorten the distance between the leaf pack and the diff housing. its like the reverse of lowering blocks: edit: wait that only works on the main leaf... nevermind. |

yeah this is true alien but it actually got higher then the distance of the leaf.I think removing the load beairng increased the arc, they were some stiff as shit wierd riding springs which is disliked emmensly. |

next one up will though, its good for about half an inch Taking out the load leaf will make the others work more, this may help it to settle down some |

Scrawn wrote: royce wrote: the flat load leaf wont lower it cause its not doing anything yet next one up will though, its good for about half an inch Taking out the load leaf will make the others work more, this may help it to settle down some How? Load leaf only comes into contact once the vehicle is loaded and sitting 'low'. At the mo its a good 2-3inch away from even touching the load bearer. Che, start by removing the lowest curved leaf as that is adding to your static spring rate and height. Dan |

You're just thinking static JrZook. Not denying that the next one up won't make a difference, I just know with mine I destroyed 3-4 pairs of rear shocks from axle wrap after I removed the load and next one up. Just removing the load leaves may not do much straight away but after a while it may help the others flatten out a bit |

Correct! I thought we were talking static as the rear sits higher than the front "as it sits". Many peps on kings are running only the top 3 leafs with no issues at all. Stekky is a good example and his gets used. |
