hi guys just looking for some more info on this swap, ive sourced an 01 low km baleno engine for my 94 g16b vitara,
To do the swap ive been informed that i need to change all manifolds, cam, sump, pick up,valve cover & maybe core plug for oil leaks then do valve adjustment, Just wondering if anyone has done all this & how did it go? was it straight forward no dramas?

This really depends if the dizzy will bolt to the back of the head because this changes how the engine will run, as its a whole different wiring system.

If the cam and all wiring was swapped then it won't matter.

I think I'd be fabbing a coolant pipe and running the complete Baleno injection though - much neater and superior. (slightly more power too)

yeh ive been told thats why i have to change the cam with my vitara one so im assuming it can still be bolted to the back of the head. im no mechanic so i cant be 100% & i havnt seen the motor it will be getting freighted, its either all this works fine or i buy a higher kms vitara engine lowest kms ive found is 177,000km where as the baleno engine is 77.000kms.
i figured if its straight forward & i already have the change over parts from my existing g16b the wiser option would be to go the newer low km engine..
just not sure if its 100% straight forward & doable

Absolutely not. The whole baleno harness and ECU will need to be installed.

Hell no. using the baleno wiring is just like an engine conversion.

Also, using your old cam in a new motor means...you have an old cam in a new motor..

Whats wrong with your motor now?

mechanics says its been cooked & swallowed water head gasket was also blown oil was filthy & very milky, to get the block/head tested etc then rebuilt he reckons it will be very pricey.
its got all kinds of gunk in it galleries are blocked & partially blocked with muck,it has thick sediment on the pistons, it still turned over freely though.
mech says its just cheaper to throw a 2nd hander in.
i asked about the cam & he reckons its usable if the change over is doable ie parts match up..
im mechanicly null & void when it comes to internals conversions etc if it bolts up & runs im in.
so from what im hearing the baleno parts are 100% interchangable with the vitara gear & i should buy it as opposed to going the higher km vitara unit?
il skip the injection side of things for now.
ive searched the threads but cant find a step by step showing this swap over being done so taking on all advice,

It's all a bolt on/bolt off operation. The long motor is the same except for the camshaft.

What does this mean.
First time my searches I have found it mentioned.

Hoping to get a low k import baleno soon, 95 - 01,
so could be dizzy or coil pack?
But I intend to swap my Vit stuff onto it.

I nearly finished swapping all my Vitara bits over to the new import motor.
And I still have no idea what this comment means

My new donk is a dizzy engine, same as vit.

G16A but still EFI.
Told its a Swift 4wd engine?
Could be I guess.
