have a look through here and you will see the difference in gear sizes between old and new. The high range is the big one. often you have to grind the transfer case back so the gears can actually fit in. http://www.trail-gear.com/pdf/suzuk-tcase.pdf |

It's driven off the tcase output shaft which is directly connected to the diffs. Thus any tcase reduction is "up stream" from where the speedo pickup is, hence reduction gears don't do a thing to the speedo |

tell me how the output shafts speed is made different to road speed.
or to put it another way what is inbetween the tyre contact patch and the transfer output shaft. |

| Post subject: | Re: 6.5s and 31s how far out would speedo be |
Shep is right , tyres and diff ratios are the only way to affect speedo , on a sierra transfer , put it in gear with tail shaft of and rev , this is only going to show the gearbox and transfer ratio verse speedo indication. The speedo is gear driven on a sierra , so the only way to alter this is by changing the tyre diameter or changing diff gearing , any other way is wrong , wrong , wrong , Cheers Paul. |

Just to confirm from the outside Shep is on the money. it is pretty much common knowledge here that the transfer gears do not affect the speedo reading, only tires and diffs will. The speedo function is based on the RPM of the transfer output. Anything past the transfer case will throw it out, anything in front of the transfer will not. |
