having a weird problem from time to time and im lost how to fix it.
when i travel on really rough roads with heavy corrugation and washouts, after a few minutes of it, the car starts to surge and when i push the go pedal down it dies.
let off the go pedal and it idles just fine, all electrics are fine (lights dont dim, cd stays on etc)

so i stop and the car will odle, as soon as i go to the go pedal, surges and starts to die like its starving of fuel. now i turn th car off, start it up again straight away and its fine to go as if nothing has ever been wrong,
only does it on really rough roads and as soon as ive turned it off and started again its fine.

what can the problem be? coil fucking out?
electrical short? but electrical seems fine, headlights dont dim etc
fuel delivery problem? the bumps emptying my fuel bowl in the carby?
vacuum?

ive given everything a once over and i all seems fine, when on a normal road it doesnt miss a beat and runs/idles fine.

help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the cause is from a loose coil wire or something to do with ur ignition system
I assume all you coil wires and leads are tight still?

yeah they seem to be, the coil looks a bit worse for wear i will just replace it i think.

The pick up in the tank getting blocked?? All the bumping around stirring up shit it the tank..

then when you turn the car off it settles to the bottom of the tank again.

I have a spare coil or two ya can try homo. Also plash Bosch gt40 look.

X2 on fuel being blocked by shit stirred up at the bottom. We'll be giving your tank a clean out before we do the conversion anyway.

Maybe bouncing something up out of the muffler of catalytic coveter that plugs it up, when you shut it off it drops back to the bottom of the muffler again.

Either that or I am with them on the fuel pickup getting plugged. I drove a diesel for work that someone sabotaged by putting wood, gravel and dirt in the tank. It would run great for maybe 10-12 miles, then fall o it's face same as yours. after you shut it off for 3-1 minutes (depending on it's mood) it would take off like nothing was wrong again.

I had a similar problem I found water in a vacuum line but it didn't stop just being a prick of a thing but could be fuel hope you fix it

reckon when it does it you can switch the ignition off and back on a few seconds later, while still moving and in gear?

would eliminate it being something strange like having to take power off the coil - ignition module but still keep the fuel stirred up

will give it a go, but currently i just been forced to slow down and stop, let it idle, turn it off and than start it straight away and off i would go.

My guess is dirty fuel, in carby bowl and/or fuel tank.
Water in the fuel can do the same as dirt.

With my Sierra, I cleaned the tank and lines,
fitted an efi inline filter (commodore I think?)
A new fuel pump,
and a filter between pump and carby.
Then it got a carby kit put through,
and never had a problem again.

Metho in fuel can help a bit with water.

PS some zooks hate the E10 type fuel

only 95 octane in my baby!
the carby is only 10 000km old so i hope i dont need a kit threw it already, im leaning towards dirty fuel, looked at the filter at the tank and it wasnt the greatest, the one just before the carby is white and not see threw, but i will change them both and see how it goes, i need to drop the tank and get it repaired when i can find an aluminium welder who wants to weld a tank and when i have the time, so i will clean it when i drop it!
