Hey guys have been thinking, Im scared of braking stuff 4 wheel driving so iv decided to put 22's on the sierra. I have a set of 20's im going to use for now. Now my question is can i remove the hubs off the front of the car so i can fit the 20's should i disconnect the front tail shaft? And what do i replace the hubs with? Thanks for your helps guys i know use wont like my idea but i drive it every day and don't want to break stuff 4 wheel driving.

I had my front end apart the other day i cant recall there being an easy way for it to happen..

Why can't you use stock wheels and tyres? You wont break anything driving that to work and back.

you can take the locking hub off however the end of the axle might still poke out to far

pull the centre, front shaft and axles out. chuck in an empty third member. and fill the housing with dirt/rubbish cos of the holes haha.

Paint the stock rims black or chrome or something.
Or buy a commodore.

Post subject:  Re: hubs

No you cant

sorry to say it but if you are too scared to fix broken stuff then you dont have the skills to remove all the 4wd stuff, just go trade it in on a corolla or something

your stud converter idea is also stupid and dangerous

Import a lazy axle from the usa, Coil convert it and cut all your springs in half, Sell your transfer(goodluck) and run it 2wd only with a longer tailshaft from the gearbox to the diff.

The only fail here is making a 4wd 2wd to fit some rims not designed to fit

why take something that drives shit on road to begin with and make it worse?

You buy a 4wd to 4WD. Not buy a 4wd to only 2wd it because cos your scared. People will call you a soccer mum and if you get stuck on speedhumps in a 4wd, No one will snatch you.

Post subject:  Re: hubs

Righto here you go, I have every confidence in you not doing this

remove wheel
remove free wheeling hub
remove circlip from cv stub
remove rear part of free wheeling hub housing
remove caliper
remove rotor
remove the stub axle
remove CV and axle
refit stub axle
refit rotor
refit claiper
fabricate blanking plate where free wheeling hub was so bearing doesnt fill with dirt and fail
drain oil from diff so it doesnt fill up swivel hubs
you can leave the front shaft in so people dont get suss on your masculinity, but putting it in 4wd will eventually destroy the front diff that drives nothing anyway
