Hey Zookers. I have just bought a 95 baleno to do the old 1.6 swap into my Sierra. I was just wondering what kind of mods i will need to do to the sump and anything else. I read the thread about this conversion but it was with a vitara g16b and didn't need as much chop and change. Does any one have anything i should know about before going gung-ho at it all. lol |

95 Baleno is distributor so you'll need a Vit angle drive housing and probably distributor. Later Baleno's have coil packs and are much easier to fit to Sierra's. |

You will need to fit a modified Sierra oil pickup and a Sierra sump. I do have Vit angle drive and dissy etc but before you say you'll take it just make sure of what bits you need. I haven't converted one so I'm not 100% sure. |

Hey man, you're going to need an adapter for the dizzy as want33's said, and you're going to want the BenT 1.6 adapter kit. Apart from that it will be about the same as my Baleno conversion, so I'll be able to help you out. You can use the 1.3 sump and oil pickup off your current engine, I can't think of the stuff off the top of my head right now that you'll need apart from EFI fuel pump and tank, which you can probably use the baleno pump because you'll have a coily tank, just needs some modification. Check out cairnszook's thread in good tech, that's where I've got most of my info. It won't be too long before I actually start my conversion so if you want to get some info come have a look. Oh and good work on the cheap baleno, how many km's? |

I'm pretty sure that the distributorless engine has a different cam and it won't drive the Vit dizzy. |

calling zooktastic.... I think he ran a vit cam and vit 90' dizzy with standard wiring. The dizzy G16b in not much different power output to the newer twin coil G16b. It will still go hard in a sierra! What year is your coily? The dizzy motors changed in 98' |

I'm lost? I don't need a dizzy because I have a coilpack engine. Sambo needs a dizzy because his engine is the baleno model with the dizzy, so he will need an angle drive. Do you mean that there's too much difference in the electrics and the vit dizzy won't run the baleno engine so he has to find some angle drive and use the baleno dizzy on that? |

Thanks for alll your fantastic help and support guys. Tim, I would be more than happy to lend a hand when doing the conversion. A mate of mine is lending me a engine hoist if you need to use one at all. (he doesnt mind) My coily's aust plates say 98 but the jap ones say 97 so i'm guessing built in 07 and was'nt a FOB till early 08. If it comes to the point where i have to replace the whole cam to wack the angle dizzy in, I will be looking at possibly putting in a stage 1 performance cam to get a few more revs out of her just to make a few more revs. Does any of you guys know where to get cam work for the g16b? |
