hey guys, just wondering if anyone has fit these and how they did it ?

just noticed the last owner has come down pretty hard on a rock or something, drivers side is nicely busted up.

have to grind off the old mounting section for the original covers though right ?

should be able to use a spot weld drill bit and drill out the spot welds.
I just cover up my busted sills with the plastic bit.

Use some nutserts instead of rivets (they are available in steel instead of using aluminium ones) - that way you can remove the covers and re-chcek your sealant behind them on an annual basis - otherwise the panels behind them will continue to rust as the panel flexes and the sealant breaks down - JMO.

I used nutserts on mine but am yet to seal the cover with anything. Roof and Gutter Silicon was recommended to me as apparently sikaflex causes a small amount of corrosion when in contact with steel.

I'd use sikaflex over gutter silicone, there's more than one type of sikaflex just use the right one. It won't cause steel to corode as long as you are not gluing bare metal (steel). I drilled my brackets off and will be painting my sills black. No covers or checkerplate. It's a little more work but a better result I think.
