anybody got a snorkel on an EFI vit? especially one with the battery over on the pass (why did you do this mr Suzuki you twit) does it use the standard intake pipe fromt eh airbox to the inner guard? or do you get a new one? if so pics would be good I need to find a few mm to get my dual batteries in and shrinking that pipe looks like my best option |

Wonder if it's the same set up as RFOL GV? he used the Toyota setup. I'll be oing that soon and you do use a different inlet pipe. |

nah vit is different setup, safari list only up to 94 which is when they moved the battery to the passenger side, it should bolt to the guard but if the intake they use is any bigger it wont fit for me or I'll have to make one that oval or something (which will then interfere with the fuse box |

when i put the dual batteries in my vit (93 model) i had to pretty much remove the std intake to the airbox so it would fit, but i cheated and just put a pod on it...then i got a battery tray made up to fit the second battery that sat right near the firewall on the pass side...if i still had pics i would show u...but i dont |

royce i have asked everywhere for one over here but no one has one. The only way apparently to get one is to get one custom made. i have pretty much given up. |

no problem getting one because mine isnt a wide body one http://www.safari4x4.com.au/docs/snorkel/ss850.htm BUT see the little 90degree bit that goes from in the guard to the airbox, I need to find out if that is the factory bit or if its a replacement, does it come int the guard anymore than the stock bit otherwise I might be in trouble |

I need to know if the pipe from the snorkel to the airbox is the stock one or a different one, the pipe that runs in the engine bay with the 90 degree bend in it |

snorkel comes through side panel, then used 90 deg elbow with pipeclamp and then flexy piping for the straight. It fitted way easier than expected at first. hope this helps Ric |

oooo crap I could be in trouble could you measure from the inner guard to the outside of that bend? it looks like it comes out a bit more than the stock pipe my battery is 335mm long and already hits on the pipe from airflow meter to throttle body so I cant shift it any further was it hard to fit? did the template line up pretty well? I have only done a sierra one and it was crap thanks Rick |

red lines = 120mm, my batt is only 180mm long and i have space left in my battery tray still. Obviously if you make the bend too tight you will lose airflow. template worked a treat, i kept it incase someone else fitted a snorkel to a vit oneday. hehe. it lined up really well!! i was a bit scared cutting holes in my panel though another option, is you have the elbow inset inside the quarter panel because i have a small straight section coming out of the quarter panel before the bend. if you could reduce this straight section to zero, you might have a better chance and gain a good couple of cm's Ric |

i havent looked 'that' hard at mine, so just goin by memory, but why cant ya run the pipe inside the guard, and have it come straight out inline with the airbox and go straight into it? |

| Post subject: | Re: Snorkel on vit |
that will be my plan b, I guess I'll have to get a look at a snorkel to see if it is short enough to have the bend inside the guard or get one made from tube *shudder* as long as I can use the stndard pipe from the guard to the airbox I'll be right, its only about an 80mm bend but the end that goes into the guard isnt really round so I might have to bodge something up there to attach to the snorkel I'll have a proper look in there when I pull the plastic off to rustproof it |

eww, no, don't make one from tube. you can cut down the moulded snorkel at the section where it goes into and through the guard, i am sure you would be able to do what antt said. i hope a homemade snorkel is your last last option!!! Ric |

i have pretty much given up. Patience grasshopper. With a bit of luck there will be one available in the near future for the widetrack Vits. I'm just waiting for the manufacturer to to get the free time to take the mould of my Vit. From that point on there will be some checking and then fitment which will take place over several weeks and then it will be on the market. |

if there is a queue forming for these snorkels to fit the J20a widetrack vitara i'm willing to wait at the end of this queue than go the stainless steel tube option, since we are having a drought at the moment i'm in no real rush. cheerz |

My Vit is a 95 model and battery on the drivers side. So ODA1's one be for later model's with air intake on drivers side. cj_zuki what side are your snorkel's going on? |
