Hey all , so the original plan was to buy some dodgy Sierra (which I have no clue how it passed an RWC!) and fix it up.
I have since changed my plans and put a deposit on a tidy 1992 Vitara JLX ( see: http://tiny.cc/v8nuc ) which will be my first car! The first thing I will be doing is putting a nice ARB steel bull bar on the front - Gotta beef this thing up! Then I'll be suspension and body raising it as high as legally possible (without the need for a damned mod-plate) Then fitting some nice fat 33" muds. And then a Safari Snorkel and UHF radio. As soon as I got back from checking the car out this evening, I jumped on here and bought a 60cm Auszookers sticker! What d'ya guys reckon? Any tips or tricks or suggestions? Cheers! |

Sounds good except the 33's. I take it you're on P's? Big tyres and P plates are cop bait |

Yeah on my p's. Yeah i hear you have to mess around with the gearing 'cause fitting bigger tyres affects the gear ratios... I guess I'll see what I'll do when the time comes. |

You will also have to do some panel work to fit 33's. 31's still need some clearance work, but are a much more sensible option. Don't forget to get some sliders. |

Yeah, I was thinking if 33's are too much of a hassle, 31's might be the way to go. Yeah mate, been looking at some sliders instead of side-steps. Forgot to mention I'll be looking at getting a roll cage - I know Vitara''s are more planted than Sierras, I just like the idea of having a cage hahaha. |

Nice one! I also agree 30/31's are a good place to start on a zook....33's stand out big time...not what you would want, been on your p's in a modified 4be! |

Yeah, I hate how having a P-Plate (even if you're on your greens like me) on your car is like a giant "PULL ME OVER FOR NO REASON" beacon to the Pol-leece... >:/ Anyway, got big plans for this Zook! Gonna have a lotta fun with it. |

I kinda like the idea of having big tyres. I'll do my best to get 33's - Will gearing be an issue? |

I ran 32s on mine and never once had any troubles with the po po as a p plater. I drove it everyday, no flares, -44 15x8s, 32x12.5(I think)R15 Just don't drive like an idiot. |

What will really be the major factor is available funds. No matter what happens, it will be an awesome Zook. |

One quick question, I just noticed I have that "AZ CREW" icon under my name, what did I do to get it? Just curious. |

mate 33's will suck with stock gearing and there aren't many cheap options for gearing for a 1.6 not to mention if you drive it hard cv's will destroy them self quite easily id look at 2 or 3 inch suspension lift and 30 or 31 they can be made to fit if your not afraid to take to your car with a hammer and then put bash plates and sliders on and drag its ass everywhere seems to be working fine for mine only thing that gets me is ramp over angle however a swb is already a step ahead compared to a lwb still wont be fantastic gearing |

Cheers for the tips man. Might see ya 'round Brisbane. dont worry about using a hammer, ball made room for my tyres with a air chisel and it worked awesome.

Hehe, whenever a hammer is talked about in relation to cars I immediately think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbJmhT5LH9E Hmm... I think the hammer would be a cheaper solution haha. |
