Hey Guys,

I recently installed my new engine and gearbox, however, I installed the clutch linkage and it doesn't appear to disenagage the cluch.

Anyone might know what the cause could be?

Thanks in advance,

Bones

Adjust it so there is a litlte bit of play at the gearbox end. See if that changes anything.

Thanks SierraDan,

I'll investigate tomorrow! Also does anyone know if it is possible to install the clutch plate in the opposite position?

Thanks again,

Bones

I don't think you can, if you put it on backwards the flywheel bolts stop the plate touching the flywheel so maybe you can't then get the pressure plate on.

Probably just needs adjusting.

Are you trying it whilst engine running?
Made sure the t/c case is in gear and not neautural?

Jackson, swifty,

That is a relief that it seems I couldn't have put in the clutch plate backwards, however, I haven't been able to check the two solutions you suggested swifty. I will check the T/C when I get home from work today, otherwise if it isn't possible i've incorrectly installed the clutch plate I will press on and get the engine running and then adjust the clutch.

Seriously a big thanks guys I was at my wits end last night.

Cheers,

Bones

If anyone has any further suggestions please feel free to throw them my way.

Ok folks,

The clutch is definitely working. I used my bushman mechanic style and use a steering wheel lock to hold the clutch down so I could try to rotate the prop-shaft. So with the clutch working fine I would say the problem is caused by me not fitting the gear selector correctly.

I have reviewed the maintenance manual, however, it is a little vague. Does anyone have some handy tips with installing the gearbox gear selector.

Thanks,

Bones

So is your real problem here you cant seem to select a gear?

pull your gearbox shifter back out and look down the hole and youll see 3 shafts, each has a slot cut in them.

with a big screwdriver move whichever shaft has its groove out of alignment so that it now lines up, you are now in neutral

now slide the shifter back in so that the bottom of it will end up sitting in the groove, dont jsut jam it in there anywhere, make sure its going to end up in there!

do the bolts up and see if it feels like neutral, if so try for some gears, if not pull it out and try again

Hi again,

Last nite I spent some time attempting to get the linkages into alignment, however, no dice. I could definitely see one groove but I couldn't see another two. Does anyone have any pics of this that might point me in the right direction.

I have a little inspection tool that I use at work and I will use it tonight to take some pics to see if I'm not way off base.

Again any guidance will be very much appreciated.

Thanks Atari,

That's given me somthing to look for. Centre shift rail appears to be in position (in my box), however, left and right I'm not so sure.

Thanks again, tonight I fix the gearbox!
