Hi all, I'm new to this site and have read heaps of the postings but I need some input on a beach vehicle. I'm sorry if I offend some of you, but I currently drive a 2007 Hilux 4x4 Dual Cab which is ok in the sand but on a lot of fishing trips to SA the Suzuki seems to be a stand out unit because of its light weight. I am currently looking to buy a stock 1.3ltr Sierra but would really like some input from you all on whether this will do the job. I have also looked at the 1.6ltr Vitara. I am open to any and all of your suggestions. Thanks in anticipation. Kev. |

i've got a sierra, havent taken it on sand but plenty of guys on here do, as far as i understand it as long as you dont reduce the gearing to far you'll be fine with the stock 1.3 im sure others will chime in with more info soon Jesse |

I've done the Melbourne to S.A run in my sierra, if you are planning to run that way more then once, go for a vitara. The extra crusing power, better economy will romp in in over a sierra. Both have basically the same storage space (for swb's) Also, a stock vitara is now cheaper then a stock sierra cause the sierras are getting hard to find unmodified. Just my 2c worth Dave |

Stock Sierras (even on stock tyres and standard ride height) handle the beach sand fine - probably better than most vehicles - as long as they are in reliable condition. |
