What lube do you guys use that works well and doesn't dry out and squeak and creak it's balls off only after a couple months of use?

I've been using PBR rubber grease in the past and I'm convinced that it's worse than crappy old wheel bearing grease! Longest I've had the PBR in without noise was a couple of months, shortest was a couple of weeks!
It turns into the most sickest crap ever, almost as if it's melting the rubber bushes!

I'm currently trying some Shell Nautalus marine waterproof grease too see how long that lasts. So far a week and counting!

Any suggestions?

Note: My vehicle is not a POS nor does it look like a POS hence cranking up the tunes to mask the sounds of a POS is not an option

What kind of bushes are you running?

I always used to run mine dry. No creaks, no worries. They were probably that worn that they never had a good surface to squeak on

Do you have grease nipples machined into the shackles?

you only grease rubber for installation, its meant to bind against the surfaces and twist to provide is bushing function, hence why I always laugh at you all thinking they are better

youll notice your average tyre (also rubber) isnt really too slippery day to day

I use bearing grease when ever I put mine together.. Seems to last for quite a few months..
Don't know if it actually helps the bushes but seems to make it allot easier to replace them down the track. Stops the crush tubes rusting and makes removing the bolts easier.

Either way, some types of grease will be corrosive to rubber so careful what you use if you do.

That is how the bush is men't to work tho I doubt that any captive bush would twist enough to give near 90* shackle movement.

These are genuine Suzuki rubber spring bushes. 2 years so far out of them and counting. Know of any poly bushes that are a nice tight fit and are as soft as the rubber ones and last?

No grease nipples in the shackles tho I have ground a flat in them to try and retain lube.

Whats wrong with urethane?

you can have it as soft as you want, self lubricating, most oil and grease wont worry it, deforms more

not that I am a rubber bush fan, but maybe try that dry lube stick stuff.
its sort of like sticky wax.

I really dont think rubber bushes are supposed to be lube though

those nice, soft rubber bushes- when installed properly- are usually under compression and practically rock hard.

lube for rubber bushes is for installation only.

rubber is supposed to wear out, (something has to wear out somewhere!) like Royce said- urethane lasts longer, deforms better, oil and grease wont rot it away and is possible to get in different grades.

we use graphite grease at work on or urethane bushes and all or shockie bolts and all or camber bolts for the caravans it is friggin awesome stuff

toothpaste works well for installation, plus it keeps your bushes cavity free!
