I test drove a 98 with 309,???km's on the clock when i was looking. It went and ran very well, the guy who had it clearly looked after it and serviced it regularly on time. He said it had the usual, timing chain issues that had been seen to, water pump and bearings in pulleys, alternator and air con comp. Whilst he had owned it and put the last 200 thou km's on it. The main thing i was worried about was wear to the rest of the car, like diffs and gearbox. The interior was ok, but seats looked like they had done 300 thou. |

When i bought my 01 Series 2 GV, it had 195,xxx on it... first thing i did, was have a Major service done, and the Mechanic at Suzistore told me, that if the engine has been well looked after, and regularly serviced, 300,000kms can be easily expected, and even 350,000kms is not uncommomn... i have about 225,000kms on mine now, and i have chosen to get it serviced every 3 months, or 5000kms, sometimes sooner if i have been doing alot of 4wheelin... but i have it bouncing of the rev limiter when 4wheelin sometimes, try not to do that to much, but it just doesnt sound like its struggling or revving its head off at 5500rpm+... lol... But yeah, besides the normal minor oil leaks, on rocker cover gaskets and timing chain cover, mine doesnt burn any oil... the only problem i had, was some timing chain rattle, which is fairly common on the 2.5L V6, but i fixed that with a thinner oil grade 10W40, and a genuine oil filter... my engine still surprises the Bejebus out of me with its power and torque sometimes, and i have to back off on the go pedal, ask some of the people from here have rode shotgun with me, hehe... the 2.5L V6 is a very reliable, well made and well designed, powerful engine ! Engine rebuilds are not cheap, about $3500... but i wont be needing that for a long while yet, hehe... |

I've just hit 130,000. only ever hear the timing chain on cold startup, and only for about 1/4 of a second. No probs with the motor but it does use a bit of oil, don't think it's burning any, but close to 10,000 kays the oil on the dipstick goes from full to about half. Rocker covers do weep oil though. |

I'm up to 160,000km on my 2002 J20A. My rocker cover does weep oil and now my coolant pipe o-ring weeps coolant. I think I use a 100ml or so of oil every 2500km or so. I'm onto my 2nd radiator, 3rd A/C compressor (2nd one was a dodgy install), a reconditioned starter motor and front bearings/hub replaced. |

220k on mine - still going strong, bar an odd oil leak from somewhere behind the aircon compressor (timing covers possibly) Didn't use any oil prior to the leak, still sounds sweet and runs well - little bit of timing chain rattle at times, will address that if I need to pull the covers to stop the leak. I can't see a problem with 300k given good servicing. For the last 100k I've been doing an oil change every 5k, and the oil comes out looking good every time. Still on the original Clutch too which surprises me given it lives most of its life in the city |

I've stretched my oil changes out to 7,500km as I feel 5,000km is too short. between 5,000 and 7,500km there's no appreciable timing chain rattle noise. I do use nulon oil flush though. |
