Hello guys.
My drover has A/C and I want to turn the compressor into a air pump?
Has anyone done this before and what do I need to do to it?
Thanks Tim

unfortunitly its a pump not a compressor wierd i know. its job is to move gas through the system not actually compress it, do you mean to swap it with a air compressor.

The air con pump on a Sierra or vitara won't work, something to do with most common ac pumps are vein types and they don't hold up to well being packed full of grease or you'd need to run an air oiler but would be unreliable. So what you need is a piston type ac pump and put a grease nipple on it and pump it full, there is only two different versions of this style that I know of one being called a saden I think and can't remeber what the other is called or even what cars you would find them on, there are plenty of builds on here trying to use the Sierra pump and there plenty of builds on how to set up the piston type just hit the search buttion

sell the complete aircon system and buy the correct compressor with the cash.

win win. someone gets a hard to find sierra aircon and you get the correct compressor.

Rare?????? I have 6 complete AC setups that nobody will buy...

To run endless air from an AC pump you need a modified Sanden rotary pump or preferably a York piston type which has its own sump and is a very reliable unit.

X2, from personal experience. Sanden axial piston or York piston are the only ones worth playing with. Bear in mind though be realistic about the cost of setting a system up and compare it to the cost of a new Arb twin motor compressor. Output will be similar at 6cfm, but the Arb compressor is heaps easier to mount etc. I've set up a few engine driven compressors and I'm going to an Arb compressor shortly. Much simpler solution.

That isn't indicative of the fact that they aren't rare, just that you are expensive. :helloo:
