I have a Sierra and the engine is playing up and I cannot work it out. It has been running a bit rough the last few weeks but nOt too bad and now it starts ok and revs fine but as soon as I out it into gear and take off it coughs and splutters and stalls ever time. It's 13ba engine any suggestions on what it is? |

Possibly some crap in carby - clean out crap from carby and possibly replace fuel filter if it hasn't been changed for a while. http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Fo ... 984#503984 |

Ok gave that a go cleaned out the fuel replaced the filter runs well on idle and Erving but as soon as load is put on it shudders and coughs then stalls. Found that if I either push the gear stick had to the drivers side or if I grab the engine and pull it to drivers side it do this. Possibly when the engine twists it wants to stall like this hence when I go forward it stalls but if I run in reverse it dose now? Any suggestions now I'm all ou of ideas |

Sounds like your grabbing third and not first. Try starting off in second and see if that helps. |

Nah I'm pretty machenicaly minded it's when u grab the whole engine and pull it drivers side over so like the engine has load when I'm taking off and it dose it then and when I put pressure on the stick which twists the gearbox slightly it dose the same thing. It dose it in any gear I take off except reverse for some reason so all forward gears. Go figure....? |

I would say an electrical connection of some sort has come loose and the movement of the engine causes it to lose contact, stalling the engine. |

I had same problem and it was a dodgey coil. It started as load in reverse would stall then after awhile it did it to first. The bad coil not making a strong enough spark for it to kick over underload (what my brother sad i think). New coil in runs like a dream Hope that helps |
