:helloo: Hi all.
beautiful day here in Coffs Harbour, apart from the fact that my
Jimny is broken down :(

Took my Jimny to the local 4x4 repair store and it looks like my tps is apparently rooted...... and the engine will no longer start. so i guess i need a replacement............. yes. Got a Quoat for $400???????? seems a bit much for a potentiometer. so i have been doing some research on the little thng and the only ones i can find a about $400 also.

My jimny is a 2002 manual M13A.

I know this has been partially covered previously, but with nothing that will answer my questions (not that i have been able to find with the "search" section)

I want to know if others on here have had this problem and were they able to fix it for less than i have been quoated. Also if anyone has the part number so i can do an accurite search on the net (as i have failed to find one for my car) that would also help.
thanks a bunch people :)

hey mate..

did the 400 include the labout to fit (although not alot) and also the diagnosis??

monday i will be able to find out a price for you. i cant today as all of our suppliers are now closed for the weekend.

the car is not starting?? i have had tps play up before but never had one that caused the car not to start. majority of them would give a flat spot while driving (TPS dropes out) or they would idle but have problems when any accelerator is applied.

i am not saying that what they have come up with incorrect.. but do you know how they came to saying that it was a TPS

code error on the ecu, apparantly.
the engin (not "check engin") light flashes and the engin gets no spark. has happened a few times before and eventually started but now it wont start.

yes i am sure. although there is a possibility that that could also be falty as for some cars it wont store a code falt in the ecu just stop it from running.

doesnt sound right to me..

i would look for another opinion.. if there is no spark then in my opinion the problem is elsewhere.

there may well be a fault in the TPS.. but i would be surprised if that is what is causing the car not to run

This may help with understanding diagnosis of the problem.
PDF

Mine is on the way out to. But haven't tracked a replacement yet.

It might pay trying to search for the same part for a Holden Cruse of the same era. Some of the parts are exchangeable between M15A's and M13A; and way cheaper.

No worries; let us know if and where you find a cheap third party replacement part.

Cheers.

LOFUCKINGL.....
have discovered the issue with the Flashing engine light. the problem was the OBD-II wireing job i had done. Two of the wires had found their way through my insulation and shorted out, thus causing the ECU to stop working. luckely there was no damage done. fixed it all up and now all i have left to do is get a new TPS and extended Brake lines and hay presto!! an awesome functional off road BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!
