Has anyone ever done it or can you get a paint in crome , im thinking of doing the grill on my project. Please share you info with me

theres some powdercoaters that can achieve a super high gloss chrome now, might be an option.

I've not seen any really decent spray-on jobs though... more often than not they flake off pretty quick too.

I have heard of it being done .. And even looked into getting it done but everone said it makes the plastic go really brittle and wouldnt do it. So have never seen a piece that was done.

And from memory (was years and years ago and the memory bank isnt too good these days) it was a powdercoater who was doing it .

you still have the issue of plastic being more flexible than the paint on top of it... just bugs hitting it while you drive would be enough to crack it and start it flaking off.

The process for chroming plastics used to be to spray them with a copper based paint and then electroplate them, most platers aren't big fans of the process as it effects the chemistry in the baths negatively.

you can have just about anything chromed, there was a stand at that hot rod show at the burswood the guy had plastic, wood, pottery all sorts of crap chromed. they had bike fairings in gold, black and normal chrome that looked like chromed metal not like nasty paint, cant remember his business name but he did offer a post in service. They did restorations as well. should be able to find him on google. pretty sure the process was silver then copper then chrome could be wrong though

Jeez there is some shit in this thread.

I have had a plastic grill from a honda accord chromed from a place in castle hill, Nsw. $300, And later, the chrome flaked/cracked because of the heat in the sun. Might of been dodgy, But i havent seen other chromes do this. They chrome anything from banana's to roses.

Metal chrome is a different story.

You can buy chrome grills from Jap land.

Most cars these days have plastic that is chrome finished if you search it on Google lots of places do it.
