Post subject:  What suspension components am I missing?

Hi People,

i'm just new to the forum, heard a lot of good things about it. Liked the Good Tech section, but need peoples advice.

What I have!
*SWB EFI Vitara 1994, with 2" body lift.
*Dobinson Shocks & Struts 2" longer than standard OEM.
*Front & Back springs are Iron Man 35mm over standard. Camber bolts have been fitted.

What do I need to prioritise for more clearance and articulation?
* 30mm Coil Spacer front & back?
* Extended front break cable?
* 12mm tail shaft spacer?
* bump stop spacer?
* front axle drop bracket?
* front drive shaft spacer?
* rear drive shaft spacer?
* shock repositioner?
* 1.5" Steel Strut spacers?

Rim & Tyre Question?
I am also trying to find used 16" x 7" rims or 16" x 8" with the backspacing that is equivalent to 2.75"-3.25"
Tyres would be 31" x 9.5" or 31" x 10.5"
What cars would have them? Would Nissan wreckers be the way to go?

The info I found was PCD 5x139.7 with centre bore 108.4 which is the same as Sierras. Some Kia use the same patters but really want to get the right backspacing to ensure I get the widest stance possible while still being able to do wheel alignment properly.

Sorry about the long post guys :)

Nissans would be a 6 stud and won't work. There's plenty of after market wheels with numerous offsets available for your Vitara.

Armsup Now thats a well written first post, welcome to AZ. 8)

I've added some bold bits to your list you can get away without doing some of them but really to get the most out of it all of the above will work, the Nissan wheels will be no good are you after a 15" or 16" rims, the most common to be used on a Vitara with 30-31" Tyres would be a 15x7 -12 to -15 offset going to large in offset can cause a heap of unnecessary clearance problems, early Jeeps & F100's also run the same 5x139.7 (5 on 5.5") bolt pattern.

EDIT: you'll want to add to that list an upper ball joint spacer for the rear end to take the stress off the ball joint.

Wow , Thank you to both of you, that was quick response.

I have just Googled "upper ball joint spacer" for a Vitara then for Sidekick, and could not find anything in Australia. If there is anyone in Australia would be awesome to know who they are.
Found these guys thou:
Low Range Off Road

Are these spacers big enough?

So what order should I get the things you recommended. I would only like to spend max $200 to start off with.

I want to use 16" rims because tyres are cheaply available in that size. 15" is too expensive and the selection isn't as good.
I'd also have to go for those tall tyres which is just more expensive again.

30x9.5's & 31x10.5's are both a 15" rim tyre, they 31's are probably the cheapest size to get as they are so common, rims can be had for around the $55-65 mark in a -12 to -15 offset, 16" rims are going to be more expensive.

Coil Spacers, Break Lines, Rear Ball Joint, Spacer, Diff Drop Brackets, Bumpstop Spacers, Tail Shaft Spacer + Commy Rear Shocks & a Strut Mount Flip.

Low Range Off Road are the people to get all your gear from, the Australian retailers are going to add their profit margin ontop of that price.

The other one to look at for Vitara parts is Bits4Vits in the UK

If ur runing longer struts be careful adding spacer on top of that u might start over extending ur cv
U will need longer rear brake line and re position ur hand brake cable
I think I just undid the bolts on the cross member so they could pull out to the side more
Rear spacer is good
As for hight y don't u just get ur springs reset higher. It will give u lift and stop the coil falling out if u go longer shocks
It's like $50 60 a pair

i run Old Man Emu Struts & Calmini Strut Spacers & Diff Drop & my CV's are fine at full droop.

save on shipping, good especially when you want something small and cheap.
