Just thinking after a quick scout around on eBay - anyone got a GPS tracking box in any work or personal car they drive? Seeing a Sierra soft top has zero security i'm thinking a $100 box that'll provide a GPS location coordinate might be a good idea... just like the iPhone app "find my phone"... "find my car" instead. Anyone know what options exist? |

there is a really good thread somewhere on 4wd action about GPS trackers, it's probably 12 months old now, but was still full of good info. basically a sim card & a box of sparks with a GPS mouse anttena up near the dashboard :edit: these look like the ones my old house mate used

the cars more in danger of being broken into than it is stolen... IMO if you invest in a good immobiliser and don't leave anything valuable in it it'll be fine. Mines not been broken into in years - but i leave doors unlocked and most of the time the windows are down too. Had the glovebox rummaged through about a year ago but they stopped when they got to the firearms license renewal notice in there. lol |

IMO if you invest in a good immobiliser and don't leave anything valuable in it it'll be fine. That reminds me, gotta renew mine.

Played with a few different units when we were deciding on what to use in our work cars. Ended up going with the shit one that I told them not to 
Good idea but if you have to pay ongoing costs it could get expensive |

its probably worth trying to find one that works with next g and data more than messages, then you can just get a sim and a 12 month recharge for $150, dunno how effective the GSM network still is in Australia |
