Hi all,
In need of info about 1 litre transfer cases. I'm currently looking to put reduction gears into my 1 litre switch box, but can't find these parts anywhere. I've been lead to believe that only 1.3 litre Sierra transfer boxes can take reduction gears. If this is the case, can I change 1.3 flanges over with my 1 litre flanges? If there is 1 litre reduction gears and somebody knows where to get it, please please post!

The later model 1L case ( with switch) will accept any 1.3L aftermarket gearset. The only exception would be 4.1 gears, as they may require you to re-use some of the original 1.3L internals.

Sell the 1L case, as they are worth more than a 1.3L case because they are a usefull gearing upgrade for 1.3 owners. Then buy a 1.3L transfer and do your swap.

Get yor gears from Lowrange.

Also once you have the 1.3L T'case you have the option of any gear set.

The 4.16, 4.9 and 5.1 gear sets all require the Low Output gear from a 1.3 set. It is only 6.5 gears that completely replace all the gears.

If the OP has a 1.0 gear set, then all you need for a 4.16 set is a new counter/idler gear and a 1.3 low output gear. Low Range will sell just the Idler gear on it's own and you could source a 2nd hand 1.3 Low output gear from someone who has done a 6.5 changeover. This would be the cheapest option of any gear reductions. Any other ratio is better off starting with a 1.3 case, but will still fit in a 1.0 switch case.

It's not listed on the web site  is this a email Sean thing and sort it out on a case by case basis?

Very interested as this could make building rocklobster cases cheap again . As there would be no expensive machining and welding required.

Great info!!!
I found that out last week when i did my 4.9 gears (thought i was missing a gear set as the instructions were for 6.5 and they say "install NEW gear" :P
Although i replaced the bearings the ones that came out were like brand new so the above option could be a great and cheap way of doing the transfer reduction

If your 1ltr flanges came off a 1ltr transfer case with the 4wd drive shift light they will fit onto the 1.3 transfer .

If they are off an earlier transfer without the 4wd shift light, they will not fit as the splines are different
