Just curious, on the thermostat housing, on the bottom side of the thermostat, was temp SHOULD it be reading on a warm engine??

Mine has been running about 80C, but I've just taken my thermostat out and found its not opening....so just hoping I haven't done any damage.

Have you put it into a cup of boiling water? you should see it open, otherwise spend $15 on a new one. Unless it is already a new one then I'd take it back for another.

Yeah, it won't open up. Had it in there for the past 6mnths so not sure what the go is. The temp has always been the same 80c-ish

If its always running at 80ish, I would suspect it is working correctly.
But the fact it didnt open in boiling water.
How long was it in the water for? Was it boiling?

Sierra can run two different thermostats.

82c and 88c (180F and 192F)

I am trying a 88c with 30% bigger flow (larger valve apparently). Installed a vit thermoclutch fan too.
It runs slightly warmer, and hasn't shown any signs of overheating.
The 82c barely showed on the guage, almost all the time.
