Hi all, ive had the shittest fishing trip yet all because of a busted rear pass wheel bearing. got stranded up near tully in fnqld when my wheel bearing shat itself. luckily i was in a convoy with a mate in a jimny. i limped the car into a local workshop where the mechanic said he was too busy but he was happy to let me use a section of the workshop to do the work myself.
anyway we went in the jimny all the way to cairns to pick up the new wheel bearing kit and got it fitted to the axle in innisfail. got back to my car to fit it only to realise they put the bearing on backwards (spacer part of bearing on wrong side). not having the time or money to take it back i grinded 4mm off the brake drum to get me home. today i bought a new brake drum set and wheel bearings and took the axle and bearings into a local 4wd workshop. only to get a call 1 hour later that they bent the backing plate trying to get the old one off.
does anyone know where i can get a pass side backing plate from as i need it quickly because my zook is my daily and my holidays finnish this weekend.
I now think i would have been far better off doing this myself with a grinder than giving it to a local workshop.

Tell them to get it sorted ASAP. They bent it, they need to replace it.

lol, yeah its a wide track. The dude there asked me if i called any of the wreckers there and i said no i didnt expect to pay for something you guys broke. I got a rather sheepish look and he said leave it with me. i bet he tries to fix it.....and fails. then looks for a new one. which wouldnt bother me so much but i bet it takes them at leaste 3-4days to work that out. looks like the deadly tredly express for me to work for a few days.

Well if they threw the old bits out, and they were still usable, tell them they need to replace it, same as the backing plate.
