Hi guys, just discovered my rear wheel bearings are stuffed again (damn mud!) and I'm going away 4wdin this weekend. I went to my local parts store to order some, I asked for SJ70 bearings, (I have an 88.5 SJ50) and they are a fair bit different to the ones already on there. The new ones are about 20mm wide, 35mm id and 72mm od and they have an o-ring around the outside. the old ones are just the standard wt ons with the spacer built in. Will the new ones I got work? |

Can you post up some pics? If they're not the same dimensions then they won't fit (not sure what dimensions they should be) |

they are the same bearings i have in my 89 wt sierra i believe it also has the built in spacer so make sure the bearing is pressed on the right way. |

yeah same part number i did a rear wheel bearing two weeks ago had trouble finding them the outside diamiter was the clincher for me i measured mine came up with same measurement. |

The DG357222DW is the right one. Never heard of the NSK one, its not a brand i sell regular. The bearing itself NEEDS to be 35 id, 72 od and 17 wide, and have a spacer of 5mm. The oring is something you can remove, you don't need it, and if by o ring you mean circlip, same goes, remove it, its not needed in this application Sounds like you got NT not WT bearings the difference is the NT doesn't have the spacer built into the bearing (on the inner ring) like the WT ones do. the bearing you removed is the WT bearing. I hope my ramblings make sense |

Well the new bearing is the same width overall as the other one so will it work? And it is definitely an o-ring. Reason why I am persisting with these ones is that the other ones are an extra $100! |

Fark me, they are stinging people over there. is it the same width INCLUDING the spacer ring on the DG357222DW? basically I'm asking is it 22 or 17 wide? |

New one is 22 wide. It has a very small spacer bit on the outside and the bearing is wider if that makes sense? |

Well technically speaking, the bearing will only take up the extra space of the spacer. it won't sit any further out on the inner edge. it just means the bearing might sit against the backing plate. and from memory there isn't much, if anything it can damage beside the bearing itself. my Opinion would be it will work, but not sure for how long. Ive never done this myself or know anyone thats run that bearing themselves. So its purely OPINION and shouldn't be taken for FACT |

aslong as you put the spacer to the outside, and the inner ring (including the spacer) matches up to the width of the one that came out. Its worth giving a shot in my mind |

lol, nothing fancy like a lathe i had to use a bench grinder cause the ass who pressed my bearings on put them on back to front. i did get home ok and i probally could have left them like that but i like it done properly. |

There are several other machines that would be perfectly acceptable to use. |

obviously, I have stated that I used a bench grinder, Hand grinder would have been better but none availabe at the time. It's a mute point anyway. Using said info from forum members I'm sure none of this will be needed as it will be done properly the first time. |
