im seriously annoyed, flew down to wollongong to buy a jimny to find out that the drive line was crap and wasted $400 on my new car budget.

so to start off i have found another jimny, its a 2007 model, pov pack, arb bull bar, the body needs work but i dont mind that, it has the m series vvt motor, it has quite a bit of play in the steering wheel as well as wobbles, i think its a wheel alignment and brake problem.

my questions are what is the best way to fix the play and the slight wobble in the steering wheel?

and, will it be cheaper and better in the long run just to do a complete wt conversion like rusho has done to his coily?

There is no simple fix for the "wobble" it can be many things, from brakes to the panhard rod or even the bushs in the radius arm's causing/contributing to the wobble.

Putting a W/T front diff on a jimny is alot of work. The diff housing would need to be widened(then custom axles's would need to be made) or you would need to run spacers/different off-set rim's on the front to get the both ends to have the same track width. Steering would also most like be a issue and the panhard rod would also most likely need to be moved.

IMO walk straight past any jimny that has a wobble...

if its got tyres that are even just a little bigger then stock this can couse the wobble a steering demper will fix this if its got stock tryes cheak panhard bush's

Steering dampers only cover up the issue, they are not the solution to fixing a wobble....

well if its larger tyres couseing the problem whats the fix to this without going back to stock

sounds like the steering had more wrong with it than just the standard wobble

mine was an easy fix. just the shim job. still a tiny bit left at 70kmh but im putting that down to big tyres and the shitty rad arm bushes. and my wheel balancing.
