Hey Guys,

Tryin to get my suzi through a rwc... and they've pinged me on the fact that 'Hot air can't be directed at the windscreen'.

The climate controls are all buggard and it's basically on or off, no control over the direction.

Can anyone provide me with information as to how I can get back behind the dash to have a look about fixing it?

Cheers.

TF

The air direction vents are controlled by cables.

I would be getting under the dash to find all cables to see if they are all complete and in the right position. Should be able to see them without removing anything.

I think last time I looked in the manual the control for the direction of airflow was on the bottom right of the heater jsut above where your left foot would sit, look under there while moving the control around and youll probably figure it out

x2

There is a cable that clips into the lever that is visible. It's easy for this cable to pop out.

Yeah just put your head down in the foot well and it will just about poke your eye out.

I have this problem with my sierra, I had a look and the spotweld that clamps the cable has broken. What would be the best way to fix it?

Unfortunately not. It's behind the controls on the dash. Means I can't defrost my windscreen :x

Well i pulled the dash apart today to have a look at it. First step was to look in the footwell but unfortunately the problem wasn't there.

Pulled the lever unit out and sure enough the cable for the Fresh air and Cabin air had just popped out, so I put that back in and put a zip tie around it.

The lever that directed the route of the air had also come out but the plastic keepers that hold the end in place were wrecked to buggery!. So i put it back in as best I good and put a ziptie around it to hold it steady and glued the gold end into place. I figured it's the best I could do....

I shoulda taken photos, but i'm just glad that it's all fixed up. I'll be using those levers with care from now on.
