Im after a front winch bar for my swb 1.6l Vitara and by the looks of things, there isnt to much availiable in aus. Which got me thinking of chopping up an existing bullbar from another car to make it fit my Vit, So I just thought Id see if anyone has done it before and which bar they used?? what problems did you run into etc... Mainly wanting to do this because I cant afford to be spending to much coin on a bar as funds are pretty tight. Cheers, Mark |

If cash is an issue I wouldn't even bother looking new - ARB quoted me $1200 for my LWB, ECB was $1600 for an alloy, TJM similar. By the time you include shipping the overseas options get up there too. Keep an eye on eBay, Gumtree, and sale section here, stuff pops up from time to time. If you went down the chopping road you'd have a bit of work making brackets to pick up the front crossmember. There are a few good pics in build threads. |

Yeah, wasnt even considering new. I'll keep an eye on ebay and hopefully something comes up.. not to fussed if i have to chop one up and make some brackets, shouldnt be to hard. would of been good to know if any bars were similar to the vit ones in regards to the width of the mounting brackets etc. thanks anyway fellas |

2L front mounts are further apart than the 1.6, aren't they? |

Fatzook wrote: A 9000lb tigerz fits behind this tube bar...... ![]() Thats the best looking bar i have ever seen on a Vit. Is that some of your work Fatzook? That would sell for big bucks if it came up for grabs. Is the upright mount to the chassis welded on? i'm trying to avoid welding to chassis for legalities, but want the strength. |

Its not welded to the chassis, but there is welding. And its required IMO if you want to run a winch in a vit. Crush tubes welded through the chassis. ![]() ![]()

Thanks Fat Zook Thats similar to a lot of the current model bull bar mount designs that ARB use (minus the welding) Will be doing this with mine, or even better do you want to make another one for me? Cheers |
