I went to son of trials on the weekend 2nd event passed the finish line and zook stalled cranked it for a bit wouldnt start then I see smoke I thought oh no startes cooked and its smoking. Poped the bonnet and the dizzy cap was on fire not much only about 5" flames at the back of the dizzy. I leaned over and blew the flames out. (lucky it didnt melt anything eles) Left it for 10 mins and its started again drove back to camp (only 3 min away) and it was smoking again but no fire. Ive had this motor in my tintop with the same cap and now running in my lwb for about 4 months with out a hic up. Has anyone heard of this happening its only burnt where the coil lead go's in to the cap so far Im thinking its a short in the cap Ill pull it out tomorrow and post a pic. any heads up would be great though.

Weird! Must of had a shitty connection or air gap somewhere causing the spark to jump and eventually heat up the plastic and set it alight |

That is weird How much room to the firewall does it have? I know that without hammering the firewall it's only a cuple of mm gap and when you go 4WDing the flex and engine movement will get very close to the firewall |

I bashed the fire wall with a rubber malet before fitting the motor there's heaps of room |

I had to undo the engine mounts and drop the motor to take the cap of But there is like a inch of room when all together between the cap and firewall |
