Hey guys,

Just a quick one, after installing a g13b into the car (head gasket done) i have a strange oil leak coming from near the mechanical fuel pump. I thought it was the gasket for the pump itself but after changing it it is still there. it drops oil onto the coolant hoses that go through the firewall on a sj80.

Cheers for any help.

is it coming from the pump itself? theres a solid hose coming off the pump, looks like its supposed to have another hose attached to it. is it coming from there? if so, fuel pumps stuffed, replace it asap... it leaks there when the diaphragm is buggered, which allows the fuel and oil to mix

its further around but the where the dizzy mounts to the head with 3 bolts they tend too leak preety often
and drip around the back near the firewall.. otherwise yeah your fuel pump is seeping and on its way out.

hi people, i have a 89 WT sierra and i notice that my coolant like liquid is sipping out from the bottom of a fuel pump via a small pipe. Is there a hose that is connected to the bottom of the pipe? or is my fuel pump stuff?

Cheers

If/when fuel the pump diaphragm tears, oil will start to leak out the bottom. This is to let you know your fuel pump is on it's last leg, and that it may be putting fuel into your oil/crankcase.

So yep, if you have oil coming out that bottom tube, it is time for a new fuel pump. Sorry for the bad news mate.

Make sure when you change the pump that you replace your oil and filter. When the fuel pump goes bad, they can/do leak petrol into the oil which ends up in the crankcase and will thin your oil. I know of sat least one person here locally who changed his fuel pump, only to develop a lower end engine knock less than 500 Miles later (due to fuel thinned oil from the fuel pump)

So at the very least check your oil and make sure it is not fuel contaminated.
