Hey Guys,

I just got some roof racks and basket put on the Jimny. I bought a 2 metre awning today and I worried that the roof rails/bars won’t be able to handle the weight with that, swags etc on the roof. Suzuki recommend a max of 30kgs. Has anyone done the same and have the roof rails held up ok?

Thanks for your help! :peaceout:

I got a 2m awning, a steel cage with rhino racks sports bars, Carrys my kayak, swag, firewood and bulky stuff, I'd say I had over 100kgs on it and now worrys!! Travelled on rough terrain and beach work with no worries...

Mine broke off, but I was tying stuff straight to the bars, and my roof is sunburnt so the plastic probably was too.
A basket like the above should hold them pretty sturdy and you should be ok, but keep in mind they aren't invincible.

I'd say 100kg's is a bit excessive, but good to know they could cope with that in theory.

I have a roof box up there which I have filled full of the lightweight gear when i go camping like my sleeping bags, small tent deck chairs no worries.
