Looking at new tyres soon, anyone running the above sizes? Leaning towards 235/85's but was wondering
If they air down ok being a LT tyre? I'm sure the 235/85 would fit easy but the 255/85 might rub (2" spring,2" body)

3cyl runs 235/85 16's on his LJ, and they go pretty well. Think they are Insa Turbo's? .....

Whether they rub or not is a function of wheel offset and bump stop setup.

Yep, leaning towards the 235/85 as I think close to 34" will be a bit to tall for my setup. Just wanna no of they air down ok being a LT. Probably will be running 6-8psi

The Insa Turbos I used to run were 7.50/16. They are a remold. They are pretty heavy and 32.3" tall. Had them on 16 x 6 rims with +10mm offset. They bagged ok and worked between 8 and 12 psi. They also flexed sideways on side slopes, filled the beads with mud and made the LJ fall over all the time. These days I am running worn (as in from the dump) Wrangler Kevlars in 235/85 on the same rims. They are close to an inch less in diameter but work better in every way, especially on side slopes and climbing out of ruts, also no more bead leaks. They bag ok but I have only been out on them once so will need to work out the pressures yet. The smaller diameter seems to suit the LJ wheelbase better also.
Also I have 255/85 R16 Bighorns on the Defender and they are a much bigger tyre, 33.3" diameter and no way they'd work on the LJ.

I'd prefer it if I never bought the Insas, cheap as they were. In a 235 they'd be about 32 and a bit tall. They do a Centipede type thing but I only had the Traction Track, a copy of the old BFG Trackedge.

That's on a 16x8 rim. They mess with 1st gear a bit bit probably wouldn't worry the 'troll.
