The fsm I have covers self adjusting drums.
When putting new Shoes and in do I wind this all the way back on both sides.
And once I've put new shoes in do I need to re adjust the above notched cogs? And how do I measure it and call it good.

1.0's don't have self adjusters. Unwind and remove both of the adjusters. Clean the threads and grease them with coppertec or nevaseize. Refit and wind in so about 2-3 threads are still showing. Fit drum. Using a flat screwdriver or a proper brake adjusting lever, stick it through the hole in the brake drum and wind the adjuster nut out until you can just feel the shoes dragging on the drum. Repeat on other side. Drive around the block and adjust again. 1.0 wheels have a hole in them to allow you to adjust the brakes without removing the wheel. Not the best pic but you can see the holes if you squint.

Thanks jas'. very handy. Got it all awesome and then I farking noticed a tack in my tire.  . No wheel for me. Think my MC is being a Gaylord. Still have to pump the brake once to build pressure. Bled all systems. Time for that 1.3 WT benchai MC and booster conversion.

Sounds like you haven't set the rear brakes tight enough. |

I set the shoes hard against the drum, backed off a few degrees so I could hear it scrape. Would it be worth re bleeding the rears now that I've got it all setup properly? |

I usually set it so the adjuster locks up hard then back off 2 -3 notches. You should be able to get a nice firm, high pedal. Keeping it for any length of time is my biggest issue. Fuck I hate mud. |

Are you drum or disc front? If drum, have you adjusted the front? |

Disc front. New pads through the front as well. |

Don't forget, 1.0lt non-assisted brakes will never be as good at stopping as 1.3 brakes with a booster, no matter how they're adjusted. |

Agreed. However I shouldn't have to pump the brakes to get pressure. It was losing fluid somewhere as the resovoir goes down fairly quickly. I'm hoping replacing everything in the rear fixes it. |
