| Post subject: | Holden auto gearbox into Serria |
Hey all I’m starting to build a sierra buggy, and I am currently gathering parts to use. I want to fit a VS commodore v6 motor in it. The motor I have is fitted with a manual gearbox, wiring harness and computer. I want to run an automatic gearbox. The question is can I fit the Berlina auto behind the VS commodore 3.8 motor? Are the Bell housing bolt patterns the same, can I use the same computer or should I get the computer from the Berlina as well etc? Any help is much appreciated Trent

To be sure I'd get everything from the bell housing back, I would assume that the computer is different |

I'm pretty sure the bell housing bolt patterns are the same, but you'll need to replace the flywheel with a flex plate, and bolts, and also i'm pretty sure the starter motors are different. VS's came with 3 different computers that are specific to the gearbox types and can not be interchanged as they have different circuitry aswell as memcals. (auto, T5, Getrec) Wiring looms are also different, auto has extra wiring for all the auto and the speed sensor wiring on different pins. The 2 manuals have different wiring for the speed sensors, and use different type of speed sensors. Best bet is to get all wiring and computer from the auto. Also have you looked into how you are going to bypass the BCM Security or (VAT's)? And speedo drive while giving the computer its signal? I'm puting a manual VS engine in my Vitara, so have come across alot of the problems. Cheers Maxx |

Rewritten memcal to get around security. Or just wire in the bcm and get the coded keys. |

Also be aware of the sump, VS's have an alloy sump thats large at the front, dunno about sierra's but i had to get a completely custom made sump to suit my Vitara. And radiator size/capacity/space/cooling becomes an interesting challenge. |

I'd be trying to get all parts out of one car it's easier there's a few different autos in commodores and theres one that's getting hard to find can't remember wit h one you can get a whole car cheap and you could most likley put the cluster in the buggy |
