Have been searching for pics and info on flat belly pans and still have a few more queries to ask. Mainly I want to know if people in the know think it's worth the trouble fabbing up or modifying the transfer mounting brackets off the chassis to leave the rail completely flat? Or is that really to pedantic and should I just mount the skid the 10mm or so lower underneath the bits on the bottom of the chassis rail?

Also my transfer is mounted in a mighty kong with gorilla grip mounts and the bottom of the kong seems to hang lower at the rear than the front, is it ok to lift the transfer more at the rear than the front? I was thinking of keeping the front tailshaft angles as good as possible. I'd like to keep the gorilla grip mounts so I will need to make some sort of spacers to retain them or should I just piss them off and buy the poly transfer lift kit?

Any pics people have of transfer mount bracket mods and transfer lifts to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

how often are you hitting under there? thats the real question... i rarely hit my chassis or tcase on anything so could never justify flattening it all out.

I bash the crapper out of my lifted transfer all the time, and mine is flat with the rails

i hated the crossmember on my low swb. It was like a strong hook..but i lived with it as i prefered driving it than working on it.

My new one, thats the 1st thing i modifed. So far i have tried to get a flat belly. Bloody cat is lowest point atm..Cant do much, at least it wil push up on a rock. Going to run a flat plate.

Raising back of trans wil put jackshaft and diff pinion/uni angles out. You might get vibrations or premature uni wear.

Righto so lift the transfer evenly, got it.

I like to play in the rocks alot and if I don't make contact with the transfer or rails then I'm not trying hard enough haha.

Just looked at Chis_mac's skid and it's nice but inwas thinking flat with the chassis rails, no drop like his. Did he lift the transfer? I also plan to have no bolt heads protruding down below the skid, will have mounting tabs that will accept a bolt overthe chassis rail with captive nuts on the inside tab. Probably make it from stainless too, I'll be keeping the mighty kong too so I'm thinking about 2mm should be plenty.

he had no BL so he couldnt lift the transfer much. He had no 1.3 crossmember. He had a flimsy looking 'lowrange' high mount crossmember with a vit 1.6 gbox conversion.

My plate, just going to weld some angle pieces on the chassis tapped for bolts. Will use countersunk.

i have lifted transfer 2" with modified tunnel to clear roctoy ring. i then slightly trimmed the bottom of the ring to get flat belly. i still need to modify the standard crossmember and make it slide more lol

i have 50x50x5 angle welded on iside of chassis rail with nuts welded on top side and a 5mm plate skid plate with m12 countersunk bolts. ive landed on it hard enough to slightly bow it
