I have a vitara 89 swb. its been rolled( by me. whoops) it runs fine drives sorta alright but is very capable. first question... idler arm bush is shagged. can i get a new bush or is it a whole new jo andb? Second... its never going to see the road again, its a bush beast. throw some ideas at me. its been lifted 2in. bullbar winch perspex screenand high ehaust out let and snorkel. what else can i do to her? |

Chuck a 2" body lift in, chop the guards a little, throw on some 31's or 32, with hilux Cv's in the front and go cane the arse out of it! |

dunno about the idler arm.... but as for what you can do to it, check the "Rigs of AZ" thread - theres a few serious vits in there. That said though, what terrain does it do most often? No point building a rock crawling weapon if it only sees dirt tracks like in your pic... if it does only see dirt tracks i'd be more inclined to build it for some rally style driving =) lol |

the idler arm bush is available separately from suzuki, or you can pick a complete non-genuine idler arms off ebay usually, then there is the heavy duty idler arm from Sky Manufacturing http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... r-arm.html personally i'd cut the shit out of the guards & fit 31" muddies |

Im goin for all round monster. water rocks sand bush everything. has been lifted running 31 muddies. how hard is it to fit hilux cvs? Mine are near shot. My plan is to build a beast of a car, that nothing stops, on a budget of 2000. ive spent 1200 already including buying it. |

I run the heavy duty idler arm from Sky Manufacturing, I highly recommend it if fitting larger treads, as the stocker can bend. Its self lubricating, too, steers very nicely. Changing bush alone can be a bugger of a job, anyway |

You will probably want some lower low range gearing before anything else if you want an all out weapon. Capability is no fun when it's hard to control due to shitty high gearing |

all out weapon, but reliable... i'd go: Gearing, 31" muds on offset rims, air lockers front and rear, tougher CVs and axles (are they available for vitara?) |

Lsd rear diff is doin its job. fronts me big let down. Lockright? Is that a spool locker? Im gonna go for the new idler arm. Luxxy cvs seem to be the shit apparently, so thats a given. are they bolt straight on or 50 hours of work and three cases of beer? Now you guys seem to be right into ya zooks, and rightly so, so im guessin you know what recovery gear to have and teqniqes. ive got two blocks, snatch strap, lil one tonne winch and about 30 meters of cable extention. i gust run the winch through the blocks and get 4-5 meters of 4 tonne pull. seems to w ork. unless shes right down. then it gets fun. |

lsd? i doubt it, locking the front you are gonna have pieces of diff housing everywhere if you arent careful (prob will sooner or later even if you are) |

If its only a bush car cut the shit out of it Any thing that dont make it move get rid of it The lighter the car the less shit will brake Weld the rear Tc gears Auto locker front Rubber under the front pinion and a metal strap over it This should help with the front diff lifting up and snapping in half Get a steel diff and cromo axles when u get some more money Front cv shouldn't be to bad .just make sure u adjust ur steering stops out . To much steering lock is the main killer of cv Strut mount flip and v6 gv front coils Ball joint spacer and gemi coils rear with commodoor shocks |

 33s no gearing welded rear has eaten thru 4 rear axles so far the front is still going strong |

Thanks guys. this i my plan as of now. leavin rear end alone. cant cut much more out of it . gonna auto lock the front cut the guards, sliders to save breakin it n half, better cvs fof when i finish destroying this set. the engine needs love.... badly.... but after that. an eboost kit to give me grunt!!! So what do we reckon? |

See what i can get aftermarket. front diff seems fine but im waiting for issues to arise. gotta auto lock it though. The motor is my main worry. shes gettin sad... blows clouds of smoke and hard to start. rebuild i think. no major knocks or rattles in the donk just think me rings are shagged. |

There's F-all aftermarket CV options that I'm aware of. About the easiest thing is the stub axle then Hilux conversion - there's a few of us that have either done it or are working towards it. Otherwise the best upgrade is a spare one (or two) in the boot. Motor sounds a bit sad, but hopefully as you say not catastrophic. |
