Hey fellas, The time has come and i'm looking to get a start on the conversion. I was going to purchase another complete EFI Vit but i've looked at 6 the past week and none are in as good a nick as mine. Plus it would take just as much work to swap all my shit over. I have searched everywhere with no exact details on this swap. Plenty for the Sierra guys though. I am currently trying to source a complete 94-later SWB EFI Vit for the job. From my understanding I will need the tank with pump, loom and the engine. Now what i'm wanting to know is the loom just a straight swap, plug and play or am I going to have to hack the shit outta it? Is it a matter of Replacing the engine, fuel tank, running new EFI hose line, running in new loom to existing and we are off and rolling? Any input is appreciated and anyone with a EFI Vit laying around give me a yell! Even if you know where to source the goodies would be great. Thanks in advance! Chris |

Cant see why you couldnt just swap the entire loom over fan, lights, fusebox ect ect.. so no cutting? even if some plugs are different in the cluster and steering column you could transfer those bits over from the one your pulling apart. If it can be off the road for a little while I would try to do it that way before cutting any wires. |

Suzuki change heaps of little shit all the time, so It could be a big job. |

That's what I'm worried about. Although I'm sure with time and patience we can get here going. The car has already been off the road for a few weeks so a couple more wont hurt. I'm suprised more people haven't done the conversion! |

Hey Fully zooked reasonably straightforward even if a little frustrating re: the differences between long and short and carby vs EFI have just done this exact same conversion to a 89 swb vit (ex carby) now a bangin EFI oh what a difference. We were able to get a whole 94 efi donor car (wreck) which was a long wheel base and simply use everything available for the 89 swb carby swap. Gearbox is the same so unbolted at the bellhousing and used the complete EFI motor, air cleaner etc. also got to upgrade to power steer and air in the process. Strip the wiring loom out of the carby and use a complete loom from the donor EFI including the wiring and computer under the dash. The LWB fuel tank however is not the same and the Carby tank of the SWB good for scrap so you will need to find a SWB efi tank with fuel pump etc or modify to suit unless you find an EFI swb donor. Overall well worth the effort! A definate improvement. |

Thanks for the write up Sniper! I'm trying to get onto a swb efi to make the swap as painless as possible. I got onto one for a couple grand but it has the check engine light on and that's a worry. Is $2k a reasonable price for a complete donor car? Even if the engine does need some new gaskets, water pump and what not? Is the check engine light minor issues only? Airflow meter? Oxy sensor? Or could be something more critical? Thanks again mate! |

The last Vit I wrecked was an 89 SWB tintop but had the driveline from a 94 EFI SWB. They had removed the original carby wiring and fitted the ENTIRE efi loom. Easiest way to do it IMO. |
