Rear wheels/axle off center? Vitara LWB

Howdy

Just bolted up some 30x9.5 wheels and noticed that my rear LHS wheel sticks out from the body about 2 inches, whereas my RHS rear wheel sits fairly flush with the body.

Any ideas?

I have checked the offset of the wheels and they are all the same, plus the underside of the car is in mint condition with no signs of damage on any of the rear suspension and diff. It's got my scratching my head.

I am hoping someone knows if this can happen and what to do to fix it? can you get different size rear brake drums perhaps? dunno..

50mm is a big difference.
I'd be looking harder for bent components.

A frame as in the swing arm in the middle holding the diff?

I had the same problem (but it wasn't 50mm) on my first vitara years ago it was a bent diff housing

50mm is a very long way to stick out.

Are the 2 trailing arms straight???

Is the Chassis straight :-O

Is the bolts in the backing plate for the axle
One axle might be about to come out the diff

So your saying that the rear axle lengths are different yeah? wouldn't happen to know the length of either would you?

doubt it will be the axles.... it wouldn't drive it they were in the wrong sides.

pretty sure this thing hasn't ever been apart, it's immaculate with just over 100,000kms on the clock

It wasn't a serious suggestion.

The rear axles are different lengths, by about an inch from memory. If they were wrong the long axle wouldn't be able to bolt up, it'd be pretty obvious.

The most obvious thing to check would be the bushes in the upper arm where it meets the chassis.
One of them being rooted would let the diff move sideways.

Yeah i'll take some photo's tomorrow and upload them. It;s got he original wheels on it now but you can still see the difference. I'll take under body shots too.
